MANILA – Ibinasura ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang mga petisyon na naglalayong muling buksan ang paghahain ng certificates of candidacy (COCs) at ipagpaliban ang botohan sa Mayo 9.

Sinabi ni Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez na ang mga petisyon na inihain ng PDP Laban faction sa pangunguna ni Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi at ng National Coalition for Life and Democracy (NCLD) ay sabay-sabay na ibinasura.

It was denied (Cusi’s petition) as well as the petition to suspend the elections until 2025. Both of them resoundingly denied,” wika niya sa isang virtual press briefing noong Miyerkules.

Aniya, ang mga argumentong ipinakita ng grupo ay hindi karapat-dapat.

The petition likewise alleged that the Comelec has the authority to set the timetable and basically short of saying that the Comelec was arbitrary in setting the timetable and we showed that it’s not arbitrary and in fact, the petition had in fact was ignored a bunch of priority activities that made it necessary for the schedule to be set the way it was,” isinaad ni Jimenez.

Hinggil sa desisyon sa petisyon ng NCLD, sinabi niya na dapat nilang hintayin na mailabas ang aktwal na desisyon.

Right now, they just decide it and they all agreed that it should be denied,” idinagdag ni Jimenez.

Samantala, sinabi niyang itinanggi ng poll body ang akreditasyon ng Malasakit Party-List matapos itong mabigong matugunan ang mga kinakailangan para sa isang sectoral party-list organization.

They were unable to prove that they were representing the marginalized underrepresented sector,” aniya.

Inaprubahan na ng Comelec ang akreditasyon ng Mother’s For Change (MOCHA).

The decision granting the petition for accreditation is simple because the group MOCHA met all of the sectoral requirements for a sectoral organization. That was the justification for the ruling,” wika ni Jimenez.
