MANILA – Sa ngayon ay nakatanggap na ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) ng humigit-kumulang 91 petisyon na naglalayong kanselahin ang Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) ng mga national position aspirants sa 2022 national at local elections, sinabi ng tagapagsalita ng poll body na si James Jimenez noong Miyerkules.
“Too many, it’s more than. These are all different positions for the national level only. Ninety-one petitions for cancellation have been filed so far,” aniya sa isang virtual press briefing nitong Miyerkules.
“But the dockets of the division are full because you are also looking at other cases, not just cancellation,” idinagdag niya.
Noong Martes ng gabi, kinumpirma ni Jimenez na ang petition for cancellation ng COC na inihain laban kay presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ay na-raffle sa second division ng Comelec.
“As I’ve said yesterday the case has been raffled to the second division but it has yet to issue the summons. I think probably today or tomorrow the summons will be issued. After summons have been issued, they will have five days to file an answer,” isinaad niya.
Matapos maihain ang isang sagot, sinabi niya na ang poll body ay mag-iisyu ng isang paunawa para sa isang pre-conference meeting.
“It will be attended by the counsel of the respondent and the petitioner. After that they will be given three days to submit their respective memoranda…and the case will be submitted for resolution,” idinagdag niya.
Ayon kay Jimenez, ang kaso ni Marcos, sa ngayon, ay nagsasangkot lamang ng pagsusumite ng mga dokumento.
“They only need to submit documents unless someone asks for a hearing,” wika niya.
Samantala, sinabi ni Jimenez na handa silang tanggapin ang mga magsusumite ng kanilang mga statement of withdrawal sa Sabado.
Ang pagsusumite ay tatanggapin mula 8 a.m. hanggang 5 p.m. mula Nobyembre 13 hanggang 15 para sa pambansa at lokal na posisyon.
Gayunpaman, sinabi niya na tatlong aspirants para sa pambansang posisyon ang nagsumite ng kanilang mga pahayag ng pag-withdraw.
Nagsumite aniya ng kanilang mga statement of withdrawal sina senatorial aspirants Manuel L. De Castro at Nur-Ana I. Sahidulla, at vice presidential candidate Raquel W. Castillo.
Sinabi ni Comelec-Education and Information Department Director Elaiza Sabile-David na ilang petisyon na rin ang inihain para ideklarang “nuisance” ang mga kandidato.
Idinagdag niya na ang data ay sumasaklaw lamang sa mga pambansang posisyon.
“For the position of president, we have 82 petitions that have been filed before the Comelec; 15 for vice president; and 108 for those who filed for the position of senator,” aniya sa Laging Handa briefing noong Miyerkules.
