MANILA – Ipinangako ng Chinese Embassy nitong Huwebes na magbibigay ng karagdagang bakuna sa Covid-19 at ipapanatili ang suplay sa Pilipinas.
“As the Philippines is facing an increase in demand of vaccines, we will donate more and substantively increase the supply of vaccines to the Philippines,” sinabi ni Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian sa isang talumpati sa pagpapasinaya ng Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Project.
Isinaad ni Huang na ang China ang unang bansa na nagbigay ng mga test kit, personal protective equipment, mga bakuna, at nagpadala ng medical expert team sa bansa.
“China has been standing in solidarity with the Philippines in fighting the pandemic,” aniya. “China and the Philippines are close neighbors that cannot be separated and moved away. As close neighbors, our good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation is a blessing for our two peoples and also for the region and beyond.”
Noong Pebrero 28, nasaksihan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang turnover ceremony sa unang 600,000 dosis ng 1 milyong bakuna sa Sinovac na ibinigay ng China sa Pilipinas sa Villamor Airbase sa Pasay City.
‘Ang makabuluhang pag-unlad’
Ang paglulunsad ng Estrella-Pantaleon bridge nang maaga, ayon kay Huang, ay kumakatawan sa “pangunahing pag-unlad sa synergy” sa pagitan ng Belt at Road Initiative ng Build, Build, Build program ng bansa.
“President Duterte mentioned in the State of the Nation Address that the Philippines would sustain the momentum in infrastructure development and complete the Build, Build, Build program flagship projects as scheduled. I believe that the progress of government-to-government projects between China and the Philippines will contribute to achieving this goal,” wika niya.
Ang proyekto ng Binondo-Intramuros Bridge at Chico River Pump Irrigation, na parehong pinopondohan ng China, ay inaasahang makukumpleto sa 2021, ayon kay Huang.
“(The) Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology-Technical Cooperation Program Phase III and the 10,000-ton Rice Donation Project are also expected to be concluded within this year. Safe Philippines Project Phase I has seen the loan agreement signed and will break ground in a short time,” dagdag pa niya.
Maliban dito, sinabi niya na ang “listahan ng mga proyekto sa pipeline” na nagkakahalaga ng bilyun-bilyong US dollar ay kasalukuyang nasa ilalim ng pagsusuri at proseso ng pag-bid.
“This (Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge) inauguration signifies the multiple China-Philippine government-to-government projects are entering into a new stage of harvest,” saad niya.
Ang Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge na pinondohan ng China ay binuksan sa publiko noong Hulyo 29 ng alas-8 ng gabi, kung saan pinapayagan ang mga motorista mula sa Lungsod ng Mandaluyong na maabot ang central business district ng Makati sa loob lamang ng ilang minuto.
