Sinabi ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na posible siyang magpatupad ng panibagong “mas striktong” lockdown, kung sakaling tumaas muli ang Covid-19 cases bunsod ng paglaganap ng panibagong variants at mga paglabag sa health protocols.

Ang pagpasok ng bagong variants ay mas nagpapahirap umano sa trabaho ng mga opisyal, giit ni Duterte sa isang taped speech na umere noong Martes.

Aniya, “Ang pag-asa natin is really the obedience, parang boy scout. You want to end the danger of COVID-19 engulfing this country.”

“Kapag hindi, napipilitan talaga ako na to impose lockdowns and everything.” 

“Under other circumstances, sabihin ko ayaw ko. But these things are for your own good and if you, hindi n’yo sumusunod and may resurgence naman ‘tas the new variants, mapipilitan talaga akong mag-impose ng lockdown, maybe stricter this time because hindi natin alam anong variant ‘yan,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.

Kasalukuyang nasa ilalim ng general community quarantine (GCQ) “with heightened restrictions ang Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna at Rizal hanggang Mayo 31.
