Maharlika Fund nais ipagamit sa Bicol Express

MANILA – Itinulak ni Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Brian Raymund Yamsuan ang paggamit ng Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) upang maibalik at gawing moderno ang Bicol Express ng Philippine National Railways.

“The Maharlika fund can get the Bicol Express back on track and be a key element in the rebirth of a robust rail sector in the country,” sabi ni Yamsuan.

Ang pagbabalik aniya ng Bicol Express na idurugtong sa North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project ay magdudulot ng seamless interconnection ng mga pangunahing economic hub sa Luzon.

“Investing in reconstructing the legendary Bicol Express means accelerating South Luzon’s economic growth. It means creating tens of thousands of jobs and livelihood opportunities. It promotes a mass transport system that is fast, efficient, affordable, emits less air pollution and reduces traffic congestion,” dagdag pa nito.

Binanggit nito ang pag-aaral ng World Bank na ang tren, maging ito ay diesel o electric-powered, ay mas energy efficient at nakalilikha ng mababang emission kumpara sa halos lahat ng sasakyan sa kalsada.
