MANILA — Naglabas ng arrest warrant ang International Criminal Court (ICC) nitong Biyernes laban kay Russian President Vladimir Putin kaugnay ng “war crimes” sa Ukraine.
Ayon sa ICC, may pananagutan umano si Putin sa sapilitang paglilikas ng mga bata sa Ukraine patungong Russia.
“[He] is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation,” saad ng ICC.
Inisyuhan din ng ICC ng arrest warrant sa parehong kaso ang presidential commissioner for children’s rights ng Russia na si Maria Lvova-Belova.
Ang nasabing mga kaso umano ay nangyari noong Pebrero 24, 2022, kung kailan nilusob ng Russia ang Ukraine.
“There are reasonable grounds to believe that each suspect bears responsibility for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population and that of unlawful transfer of population from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation, in prejudice of Ukrainian children,” saad ng ICC.
Hindi miyembro ng ICC ang Russia, kaya’t hindi pa raw malinaw kung paano nito pinlano ang pagpapatupad ng nasabing mga warrant.
Ilang araw lamang matapos itong lusubin ng Russia nang ilunsad ni ICC prosecutor Karim Khan ang imbestigasyon sa umano’y “war crimes” at “crimes against humanity” sa Ukraine.
