MANILA – Ang desisyon ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc sa mga kasong diskwalipikasyon na isinampa laban kay presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ay maaaring mailabas sa susunod na buwan, sinabi ng poll body noong Huwebes.

Sinabi ni Comelec Commissioner George Garcia na minamadali na ngayon ang mga motion for reconsideration (MRs) na inihain ng mga petitioner laban sa kandidatura ng dating senador.

“The chairman (Saidamen Pangarungan) is committing number one before the end of April a decision by the en banc will be forthcoming,” aniya sa isang press briefing.

Inamin ni Garcia na hindi siya lumahok sa sesyon na tumatalakay sa mga kaso ng diskwalipikasyon.

“A decision on the consolidated cases, as well as the case with motions for reconsideration will be decided before the elections…before the end of April,” aniya. “The earliest the second week of April, the latest will be the third week of April.”

Nauna nang ibinasura ng Comelec First and Second Divisions ang kabuuang anim na kasong isinampa laban kay Marcos dahil sa “lack of merit”.

Inihain ng mga petitioner ang kani-kanilang MRs sa Comelec en banc.

Samantala, sinabi ni Garcia na si presidential bet Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, na nagbitiw sa kanyang political party, Partido Reporma, ay hindi ikokonsidera bilang independent candidate sa May 9 polls.

“Whatever is your party at the time of the filing of the candidacy stays. Your CONA (Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance) stays. Whatever changes in your affiliation after the filing of the candidacy, it doesn’t matter,” dagdag ni Garcia.

Noong Huwebes, inihayag ni Lacson ang kanyang pagbibitiw sa Partido Reporma matapos magdesisyon ang kanyang partido na mag-endorso ng ibang kandidato sa pagkapangulo.

Inendorso ni Partido Reporma president at Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez ang kandidatura sa pagkapangulo ni Vice President Leni Robredo sa kabila ng pag-amin na si Lacson ang “pinaka-kwalipikado” para maging susunod na pangulo ng bansa.
