MANILA – Pinag-iisipan ng gobyerno na gawing mandatory ang booster shot para sa mga senior citizen at mga may komorbididad upang maiwasan ang matinding impeksyon sa coronavirus na maaaring magresulta sa pagkamatay.

Ayon kay National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., ang malawakang pangangasiwa ng booster shots ay “malaking tulong sa pagbaba ng mortality rate sa ilang bansa”.

“During the height of many deaths, we’ve seen that those 59 years old and above, as well as those with comorbidities, were very vulnerable so it was suggested for them to get booster dose and even a second booster dose,” sinabi ni Galvez sa isang panayam sa media sa isang kaganapan ng pagbabakuna sa Makati City.

“Those countries that have a high number of administered booster doses and even with fourth doses have a lower death rate of point three based on their cases,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi ni Galvez na ang epekto ng booster vaccination sa pagbabawas ng dami ng namamatay ay tinalakay ng NTF, Vaccine Experts Panel, at iba pang awtoridad sa kalusugan.

Maaari ding amyendahan ng gobyerno ang kahulugan ng “ganap na nabakunahan” mula sa pagkakaroon ng dalawang pangunahing dosis upang isama ang booster shot.

“Meaning, when you say fully vaccinated, you were administered with at least three. The experts panel is now tackling that matter,” dagdag niya.

Sinabi ni Department of Health Director, Dr. Gloria Balboa, na sa ilalim ng pag-aaral ay ang pagbibigay ng pangalawang booster shot o ang ikaapat na dosis.

“It needs to be based on studies abroad and locally so let’s just wait for whatever results of the study,” aniya.
