
MANILA – Hiniling ng isang mambabatas ng House of Representatives nitong Miyerkules sa Department of Energy (DOE) na tiyakin ang sapat na supply ng kuryente ngayong summer, lalo na sa pagsasagawa ng May 2022 elections.
Umapela si Rizal Rep. Fidel Nograles matapos asahan ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) ang kakulangan ng supply ng enerhiya sa panahon ng tagtuyot dahil sa pagtaas ng demand, na posibleng makaapekto sa mga botohan.
“We should do everything to prevent outages, especially during the elections. We do not want the credibility of the May 2022 elections to suffer just because we can’t solve brownouts,” giit niya.
Iminungkahi niya na sakaling kailanganin ang mga power plant na magsagawa ng preventive maintenance, ang schedule ay dapat i-coordinate sa DOE upang matiyak na hindi sila magiging offline nang sabay-sabay.
“For years, this has been happening and I don’t understand why we have not seen how to solve this annual problem of summer power outages,” wika niya.
Dagdag niya, dapat ding tingnan ng DOE ang paggamit ng mga renewable energy solution bilang stop-gap measure.
“I think there are solar power systems that can be easily installed in communities. I have heard of NGOs (non-governmental organizations) doing it, why can’t the DOE do it? This may even be the answer to our long-elusive target of 100 percent electrification,” aniya.
