MANILA – Inihayag ni Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque na maaaring payagan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang pagpapatupad ng face-to-face classes sa mga low-risk na lugar.

Inilahad ni Roque na ang Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) ay nakatakdang magmungkahi ng plano kay Duterte hinggil sa pagbubukas ng mga pisikal na klase, partikular sa mga lugar na may mas kaunting mga kaso ng coronavirus (Covid-19).

“We agreed that a small group will present to the President. So it’s not really a Cabinet meeting — that is important but ‘yung small group, that in principle, the AITF has agreed to — will make that presentation to the President,” aniya sa isang press briefing ng Palasyo.

Ayon kay Roque, isinasaalang-alang ni Duterte ang paglulunsad ng mga face-to-face classes sa mga lugar kung saan ang Covid-19 transmission ay itinuturing minimal.

“He may allow it pero dapat pilot muna ang areas na mababa talaga ang kaso so that we could — as I said pilot it, and see if it works, then, it can be implemented in other areas,” aniya.

Sinabi ni Roque na nais niyang magkaroon ng isang “intimate” na pagpupulong kay Duterte upang talakayin ang paksa.

“The issue of face-to-face classes has been seen to be a purely education issue. It is a multi-disciplinary issue now involving the health department because of mental health issues, effect on the children, and the lack of socialization on the children as well an economic problem because we are dealing with the generation that could possibly be lost as a result of hybrid na ini-implement natin,” aniya.

Nakatakda na ang iskedyul ng pagpupulong, ayon kay Roque.

“I want to schedule it as early as possible but we’re coordinating kasi useless to discuss it in a body like a Cabinet meeting I want it to be an intimate meeting with the president just about the topic,” isinaad niya.

Dahil sa banta na ibinigay ng Delta coronavirus variant, dati nang sinabi ni Duterte na sa sandaling ang bansa ay makakuha ng proteksyon ng populasyon laban sa Covid-19, papayagan niyang magpatuloy muli ang mga face-to-face classes.

Sinimulan ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang school year 2020-2021 noong Oktubre ng nakaraang taon sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng online na pag-aaral, edukasyong nakabatay sa telebisyon at radyo, modular at pinaghalong pag-aaral, na kung saan ay isang kumbinasyon ng dalawa o higit pang mga pamamaraan sa pag-aaral.
