MANILA – Kailangang manatiling alerto ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa kabila ng pagkatalo ng mga local terrorist group (LTGs) na nagooperate sa ilang bahagi ng Pilipinas.
Ipinahayag ito ni Army Col. Ramon Zagala, AFP spokesperson, nang tanungin kung ang pagdakip ng puwersa ng Taliban sa Afghanistan noong nakaraang linggo ay magpupukaw ng radikalismo sa bansa.
“We are confident that our efforts in Mindanao and security and stability operations there are bearing fruit. So, we believe it’s safer, more stable and that our PCVE are bearing fruit. Again, what we need to do is to be vigilant,” idinagdag niya sa virtual briefing noong Lunes.
Sinabi pa ni Zagala na marami sa mga lugar kung saan kilalang gumala ang mga lokal na terorista ay kalmado at ligtas na ngayon, at may pagunlad sa pagsulong ng AFP laban sa mga LTG na ito.
“Through the years we have already been (gaining) headway in our efforts against local terrorist groups and we are confident that we will be able to finish them (at the) soonest possible time,” dagdag niya.
Kinilala niya ang Trilateral Cooperative Arrangement ng bansa sa Malaysia at Indonesia na lubos na tumutulong sa seguridad ng southern border ng Pilipinas.
Habang umuusad ang sitwasyon, sinabi ng AFP deputy chief-of-staff for operations Maj. Gen. Edgardo De Leon na ang pagtanggap o pagbibigay ng asylum sa mga Afghan na nakatakas sa pakikipaglaban ay walang peligro.
“As regards the possible risk in accepting evacuees from Afghanistan, the Afghan people, we don’t see any risk because those trying to seek asylum are those people who are peace-loving who are running away from conflict,” aniya.
Dahil sa distansya sa pagitan ng Afghanistan at Pilipinas, na 5,920 kilometros, naniniwala si de Leon na ang Pilipinas ang huling patutunguhan na hahanapin ng mga Afghan para sa pagpapakupkop.
“So with regard to the possible risk of a spillover of the Taliban conflict to our country it is very remote because we have already reduced substantially the capability of the local terrorists to launch conflict, we have seen our victory, the government victory (in) Marawi and the local terrorists have substantially been reduced,” wika niya.
