Nilinaw ng Philippine Red Cross noong Lunes na hindi ito “nagbebenta” ng Moderna Covid-19 vaccine doses.
Ayon sa gobernador ng PRC na si Maria Carissa Coscolluela, wala ang organisasyon sa “business of selling vaccines”.
Ang mga Red Cross members at donors umano ang sasalo sa halaga ng vaccines, na nasa “US$26.83 per dose.”
Unang sinabi ni PRC chair Sen. Richard Gordon na nakatakdang dumating sa Pilipinas ang nasa 200,000 Moderna doses sa susunod na buwan.
“If we are going to wait for the [government’s] vaccines to come, mahuhuli,” ani Gordon.
“Those of you who cannot wait, you pay P3,500 and that’s 2 doses already,” dagdag pa ni Gordon.
Ipinaliwanag kinalaunan ni Coscolluela na hindi umano sinabi ni Gordon na magbebenta ang Red Cross ng mga bakuna, subalit idiniin lamang na kailangang mag-“act fast and vaccinate as many people as we can” sa bansa.
“What he said was that the PRC procured Moderna COVID-19 vaccines and intends to vaccinate Red Cross members and donors, who are also our members, who are willing to bear the cost of the vaccines, which was US$26.83 per dose,” paglilinaw nito.
“The PRC is a humanitarian organization and is not in the business of selling any vaccines. It does not charge for anything that it got free,” dagdag pa.
