Itinaas ng Phivolcs noong Martes ang Alert Level 1 sa Mount Bulusan sa Sorsogon matapos matuklasan ang “sustained inflation” sa upper slopes ng bulkan simula Marso, kung saan nangangahulugan umano itong may nagaganap na “volcanic processes” sa bulkan.
Sa isang bulletin, inihayag ng Phivolcs na nakapagtala ito ng kabuuang bilang na 124 volcanic earthquakes simula Sabado.
“The increased seismicity could be followed by stream-driven or phreatic eruptions at the summit crater or from flank vents on the upper to middle slopes,” paliwanag ng ahensya sa inilabas na advisory.
“Ground deformation data from real-time electronic tilt monitoring has been recording sustained inflation of the upper slopes that began Mar. 6, 2021, consistent with short-term inflation of the edifice measured by continuous GHPS monitoring since February 2021,” dagdag pa ng Phivolcs.
Ang nasabing developments ay nangangahulugang nagkakaroon ng volcanic processes “underway beneath the edifice” na dulot umano ng “shallow hydrothermal activity,” kung san ito ang naging dahilan para sa pagtaas sa Alert Level 1 o “low-level unrest” status.
Nangangahulugan din umano itong nasa “abnormal” condition ang Bulusan, ayon sa Phivolcs.
