
Pinapayagan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang mga gumaling mula sa Covid-19 na agarang maturukan ng bakuna pagkatapos gumaling sa sakit.
“Section III E.5 of Department Circular No. 2021-0157 is amended for simplification that all vaccine recipients who contracted COVID-19 may be vaccinated after recovery or completion of treatment, whether for first or second dose, without restarting the vaccine dose schedule,” pahayag ng DOH sa isang revised memorandum noong Abril 8.
Ang naunang patakaran ay nag-uutos sa Covid-19 recoveries na maghintay ng 14 days matapos gumaling bago maturukan ng Covid-19 vaccine. Subalit, ayon sa kasalukuyang ebidensiya, puwede nang ibigay ang bakuna agad kapag gumaling na ang pasyente.
Ayon kay Dr. Rontgene Solante ng vaccine experts panel, mas mabuti kung agarang mababakunahan ang recovered Covid-19 patient.
Aniya, “Remember, when you recover from this infection, you may have the natural antibody coming from that recovery, but that antibody may not last long, so they can still have a reinfection.”
“That’s the reason why we don’t need to wait for that 90 days if there’s an opportunity,” dagdag pa nito.
