Naghain ang hindi bababa sa 37 kongresista ng resolusyon upang paimbestigahan ang halos kalahati ng ₱140-bilyong pondo sa ilalim ng Bayanihan to Recover as One Act o Bayanihan 2 na hindi pa nailalabas.

Inihain ng mga mambabatas noong Lunes ang House Resolution 1558 upang ipanawagan sa House Committee on Public Accounts na magsagawa ito ng inquiry in aid of legislation tungkol sa “unreleased and unutilized appropriations” sa ilalim ng Bayanihan 2 ng Department of Budget and Management.

“The economy cannot afford slow implementation of government relief programs that have already been approved and authorized, especially as the World Bank and other international institutions warn that the country will recover more slowly than its peers in the East Asia and the Pacific Region,” sabi ng resolusyon.

Sa ilalim ng Bayanihan 2, aabot sa ₱165.5 bilyon ang inilaan para sa emergency relief at upang pondohan ang pandemic response ng bansa, kung saan ₱140 bilyon ang nasa regular appropriations habang ₱25.5 bilyon naman ang standby funds.

Nangamba si AAMBIS-OWA Party-list Representative Sharon Garin, miyembro ng bicameral conference committee sa Bayanihan 2, tungkol sa delayed disbursement ng mga pondo.

Kasabay nang 4.5 milyong Pilipino na pinangangambahang mawawalan ng trabaho, mabibigyang linaw ng isasagawang imbestigasyon ang posibleng magiging solusyon upang tugunan ang mga suliraning pang-ekonomiya ng bansa.

Ayon umano sa ulat ng Office of the President noong November 2020, ₱76.2 bilyon lamang mula sa ₱140-bilyong pondo ang nailabas.

“The pandemic is now only a month shy from reaching its first year and the country still reeling from the impact of an economic nosedive. If we don’t act on this, the economic revival we all hope for will not materialize,” dagdag pa ng kongresista.
