Humingi ng tawad ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) noong Linggo sa ilang alumni ng University of the Philippines (UP) na napabilang sa listahan ng mga umano’y New People’s Army (NPA) recruits.

“We sincerely apologize for those who were inadvertently affected by inconsistencies regarding the List of Students who joined NPA (Died or Captured) that was posted in the AFP Information Exchange Facebook account,” pahayag ng AFP.

“The Office of the J7, AFP is already conducting an internal investigation as to how the list got published. Personnel who are responsible will be held to account,” dagdag pa ng AFP.

Ayon naman kay Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, isang “unpardonable gaffe” ang ginawa ng militar.

Bago ito, humingi ng public apology mula sa AFP si Atty. Raffy Aquino, miyembro ng Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) na napabilang sa nasabing listahan.

Naunang ipinost ng AFP sa Facebook account nito ang isang listahan ng mga UP students na umano’y nadakip at napatay matapos umanib sa mga komunistang grupo. Naging viral ang naturang post hindi lamang sa Facebook, kundi pati na rin sa iba pang social media platforms.

Binura naman ito kinalaunan matapos ang pambabatikos.

Noong Sabado, iginiit naman ni Aquino at ng iba pang UP alumni na magsasampa sila ng kaso laban sa isinagawang “red-tagging” ng AFP.

Aniya, “The members of the group are consulting and definitely, we want to hold people accountable for this reckless publication of a list and our malicious inclusion in that list.”

Ayon kay Aquino, balak ilang magsampa ng kasong cyber libel at sa “angle of contempt” ngayong ang ilan sa kanila ay sangkot sa nagaganap na litigasyon ng Anti-Terrorism Act sa Korte Suprema.
