Inihayag ng Malacañang na kumpiyansa itong bubuti ang buhay ng mga Pilipino sa 2021, bagama’t naranasan ng bansa ang pananalasa ng Covid-19 pandemic na lubos na nakaapekto sa ekonomiya.
Sa isang press statement, sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na ang “Ingat Buhay para sa Hanapbuhay ” campaign ng pamahalaan ay makatutulong para sa muling pagbangon ng ekonomiya at makarekober ang mga Pilipino mula sa epekto ng pandemiya.
“Ingat buhay para sa hanapbuhay will continue to be our direction in 2021 with the opening of more industries to revitalize our economy and stimulate growth for the betterment of the lives of our people next year and beyond,” ani Roque.
Ang naging pahayag ni Roque ay matapos ang Nobyembre 21-25 na Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey na nagsabing mas pumangit ang kalidad ng kanilang buhay sa nakalipas na 12 buwan.
Ayon sa nasabing survey, 62 percent ng mga Pilipino ang nakaramdam na mas naging malala ang kanilang buhay, habang 14 percent naman ang nagsabing mas bumuti ang kanilang buhay ngayong taon.
Subalit, ang mga Pilipinong nagsabing mas pumangit ang kanilang buhay ay mas mababa sa naitalang 82 percent noong Setyembre 2020.
Hindi na umano nakagugulat ang resulta ng survey, ayon kay Roque, sapagkat nakikipaglaban pa rin ang bansa sa pandemiya.
Aniya, “Year 2020 has been a challenging year for the Philippines with lockdowns adversely affecting the socio-economic condition of our people. It is therefore not surprising that the Fourth Quarter Survey of the Social Weather Stations, conducted last November 21 to 25, 2020, showed 62 percent of Filipinos believe that their quality of life got worse in the last twelve months.”
Gayunpaman, positibo ang pananaw ni Roque na makararanas ng mas kumportableng buhay ang mga Pilipino matapos ang unti-unting pagbubukas ng ekonomiya sa bansa.
Batay aniya sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority sa October 2020 Labor Force Survey nito, binanggit ni Roque na ang unemployment rate sa bansa ay nabawas sa 8.7 percent noong Oktubre mula sa mataas na 17.7 percent noong Abril.
“Things are looking up. The economy has reopened which means more livelihood opportunities have become available. This has been felt by our people as it is noteworthy to mention that the latest figure, 62 percent in November 2020, is a marked improvement from the 82 percent of Filipinos who had the same belief last September 2020,” dagdag pa ni Roque.
