Idiniin ng mga eksperto na posibleng makaranas ang National Capital Region (NCR) ng pagtaas sa Covid-19 reproduction rate sa mga susunod na araw, kung saan nangangahulugan itong mas maraming tao ang mahahawa ng coronavirus.
Noong Linggo, sinabi ni Prof. Guido David ng OCTA Research Team na ang reproduction number ay kasalukuyang nasa 0.99, at posible pa itong tumaas sa mga susunod na araw. “Very likely” umano ito ngayong panahon ng Kapaskuhan.
Ang Reproduction (Ro) number y tumutukoy sa bilang ng mga tao na mahahawaan ng isang taong may virus.
“An Ro below one means that the trend in new cases is downward, while an Ro above one means the trend is upward. The increase due to the holidays was very likely. The goal is to not let this number increase even further, because when that happens, cases will start piling up. Right now, we are counting on the preparation of the LGUs (local government units) and the healthcare system for this expected surge in cases,” paliwanag ni David.
Noong Sabado, iginiit naman ni OCTA Research Fellow Fr. Nicanor Austriaco na ilang mga lungsod sa NCR ay lumagpas sa Ro = 1. Subalit, hindi nito binanggit kung aling mga siyudad ang nagkaroon ng surge.
Ayon sa research team, ang pinakamababang reproduction rate ay naitala sa Ro = 0.66, noong Oktubre 21.
