Pansamantala munang isasantabi ang usapin ukol sa pagsasapubliko ng statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte habang nakatuon ang atensyon nito sa disaster response bunsod ng pananalasa ng Bagyong Rolly, giit ni Malacañang noong Miyekurles.

“All these we’ll have to set it aside right now because the task right now is to help the typhoon-ravaged areas recover,” ani Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Dagdag pa nito, “The President is in Manila. He is focused on rehabilitation efforts. But right now, he wants to make sure that, number one, that the basic necessities be received by the victims of this typhoon and everything else are not considered as important as the rehabilitation effort right now.”

Gayunpaman, idiniin ni Roque na wala aniyang “conscious effort” para itago ang SALN ng pangulo dahil sumusunod lamang ito sa mga pamantayang itinakda ng Ombudsman hinggil sa SALN.

“I don’t think there is a conscious effort to conceal because he has complied with it. But he is just respecting the recent guidelines issued by the Ombudsman because, after all, the Ombudsman is the constitutional body tasked with promoting accountability on these public officers,” wika ni Roque.

Noong Setyembre, hinigpitan ng Ombudsman ang patakaran tungkol sa pag-access ng publiko sa mga SALN ng opisyal. Ang mga ito ay maaari lamang ilabas kung: ang kukuha ay ang awtorisadong representante ng may-ari ng SALN; ang request ay alinsunod sa utos ng korte; at ang request ay para sa pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon.

Sinabi naman ni Roque na kokonsultahin niya ang pangulo kung gugustuhin ba nitong isapubliko ang mga SALN nito para sa taong 2018 at 2019.
