Wala umanong “conscious effort to conceal” o itensyong magtago si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ng kanyang kayamanan, ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque noong Miyerkules, bagama’t hindi pa isinasapubliko ang net worth ng pangulo simula 2018.

Ayon kay Roque, sinusunod lamang ni Duterte ang mga itinakdang guidelines ng Office of the Ombudsman, na naglimita sa access ng Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) ng mga opisyal ng pamahalaan.

“I don’t think there is a conscious effort to conceal because he has complied with it. He is just respecting the recent guidelines issued by the Ombudsman because after all the Ombudsman is a constitutional body tasked with promoting accountability amongst public officers,” paliwanag ni Roque.

Dagdag pa nito, “So, all he’s saying is let’s respect the guidelines issued by the Ombudsman and comply with those guidelines.”

Tatanungin naman umano ng tagapagsalita ng pangulo si Duterte sa Huwebes kung nais nitong isapubliko ang kanyang SALN.

Aniya, “The times that we have talked, it’s about the typhoon. So, no, I haven’t brought it up but we have another meeting tomorrow and he will make another address to the nation on COVID and perhaps there I will then bring up the matter.”

Noong Setyembre, nilimitahan ng Ombudsman ang access ng publiko sa mga SALN ng opisyal, kung saan pinapahintulutan lamang ang paglalabas ng mga ito kung alinsunod sa opisyal na imbestigasyon, kautusan ng korte, o awtorisasyon mula mismo sa mga opisyal.
