Malacañang sa US presidential elections: ‘May the best man win’

Hindi umaasa ang Pilipinas na may malaking pagbabagong magaganap sa relasyon nito sa Estados Unidos alinsunod sa kung sino man ang mananalo sa US presidential elections ngayong taon, giit ng Malacañang noong Miyerkules.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, makapagtataguyod naman ng “warm personal relations” ang bansa sa kahit sino ang magiging susunod na pangulo ng US.

Kinailangan lamang umano ni Duterte ng “isa o dalawang taon” para makapagtaguyod ng ugnayan sa kasalukuyan nitong pangulo na si Donald Trump, dagdag pa ni Roque.

Aniya, “You see the (US) state department ensures continuity as far as US foreign policy is concerned. So we don’t expect any major changes in bilateral relations between the PH and the United States.”

“And even if there is a new President, I am not saying that there will be, but in case there is a new President in the United States in the person of Senator Biden, I am confident that the President can also develop close personal friendship with Mr. Biden. May the best man win as of now,” dagdag pa ng tagapagsalita ng pangulo.
