Bagama’t ipinasara na ito, posibleng maharap muli sa imbestigasyon ang ABS-CBN Corp. dahil sa pagkwestyon ng isang kongresista tungkol sa pagbabalik-ere ng mga programa nito sa pamamagitan ng isang kasunduan sa licensed television station, ZOE Broadcasting Network.
Hinikayat ni House Minority Leader Joseph Stephen Paduano ang National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) at Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) na silipin ang blocktime agreement ng ABS-CBN sa ZOE para sa posibleng ligal at tax issue matapos magbalik ang mga programa nito sa free TV noong Oktubre 10.
“There is a legal issue about it. Let’s just see what will happen there,” pahayag ng Abang Lingkod party-list congressman noong Oktubre 21.
Dagdag pa nito, “Let the NTC do the study or investigation on that matter. Then NTC will recommend it to Congress, to the committee on franchise, and the committee will act on it. We also have the responsibility and the right to investigate it.”
Bukod sa usaping ligal na bumabalot sa nasabing blocktime deal, sinabi ni Paduano na posibleng mayroon ding tax issue na dapat tingnan ng BIR sapagkat tax-exempt ang ZOE TV dahil isa itong religious broadcasting entity.
“Once you’re a commercial TV or network, you have to pay your taxes. That’s my issue with ABS-CBN. The profits of ABS-CBN go to Big Dipper. That’s tax evasion. There’s really an issue there. You have to pay your taxes,” giit ni Paduano.
Dagdag pa ng mambabatas, “The BIR should check on it; and the NTC. If you’re a commercial entity you have to pay your taxes.”
Gayunpaman, sinabi ni Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor na wala siyang nakikitang mali tungkol sa naturang blocktime deal.
Aniya, “I have no problem with that, because this blocktime arrangement – it is not a utilization of the franchise; it is the franchise of ZOE and they are buying into it.”
“So ABS-CBN is still a corporation and it is within their right to do so,” dagdag pa ni Defensor.
Ang ZOE TV, na pag-aari ng televangelist na ngayo’y kongresistang si Deputy Speaker Eddie Villanueva ng CIBAC party-list, ay nagre-branding at ngayo’y kilala na bilang A2Z Channel 11.
Pinasalamatan ang founder ng Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide ng mga ABS-CBN talents dahil sa pagpapahintulot nito na muling magbalik ang mga programa ng network sa ere. Sinabi naman ni Villanuevea na ang Panginoon na lang ang kanilang pasalamatan.
Aniya, “Just thank the Lord who is the real owner of A2Z Channel 11 and who loves all human beings.”
Ang nabanggit ng blocktime deal ay nagpahintulot sa ABS-CBN na muling iere ang mga programa nito sa free TV ngayong buwan. Nagtigil–operasyon ang network noong Mayo 5 matapos magwakas ang prangkisa nito para makapag-operate. Tinaggihan din ng Kamara ang pagbibigay dito ng panibagong prangkisa noong Hulyo.
